Our Story
At Rebuild and Rise, we believe in the power of second chances. Our mission is simple but profound to empower incarcerated individuals and those in recovery to reenter society with dignity, confidence and a solid foundation for success.
This mission began with one man’s unrelenting determination to turn his life around. Michael Hanks, our founder, has been sober for over 11 years. Once caught in the throes of addiction, Michael knows firsthand how difficult the road to recovery can be. Although he was fortunate to never face incarceration, he experienced the challenges of rehabilitation head-on.
For Michael, traditional recovery programs that often emphasized negative self-talk didn’t provide the hope or motivation he needed to reclaim his life. Fueled by this realization, he developed his own 10-step program, The Power of Being RELENTLESS. The program inspires individuals to replace self-doubt with resilience, empowering them to rise above their circumstances. It’s no surprise that the framework became a best-selling book, helping countless people worldwide find a path to sobriety and self-worth.
Today, Michael continues to attend Celebrate Recovery at his home church, Soulquest Church, where he sees lives transformed by community and faith. But he also understands that recovery is just one piece of the puzzle. For many people, the real challenge begins when they reenter society. Finding employment, gaining financial independence and rebuilding self-esteem can feel overwhelming and impossible.
That’s why Rebuild and Rise exists to bridge that gap. Through practical, personalized support like resume writing, interview preparation, soft skills training, financial literacy and ongoing mentorship, we help individuals build a future they can be proud of. Our programs are designed not just to provide tools and resources, but to restore identity, purpose, and hope.
